I’m doing the right thing. I know I am. She doesn’t belong to me or with me. I’ll just drag her further into the darkness, snuffing that light out. I would never forgive myself if she became a shadow of herself. She’s got a spark in her and once she gets away from all the darkness that has pushed itself into her life, she’ll realize that she deserves so much more than I could ever offer her.

My feelings were getting in the way, and if I kept her around for any longer, I wouldn’t have been able to set her free. I would have kept her, watching her slowly become lost in my world. She doesn't belong to me.

She’s not mine.

Not in the way it matters.
